Joy lives in Altrincham with her husband and pet greyhound. She has two grown up children. She grew up in Cumbria and studied at university in Newcastle upon Tyne.

After working for many years in local government and then running her own business, she wanted to explore her love of writing. In the past she has written poems for friends and colleagues on special occasions. She was inspired to write her novel after recording the exploits of herself and four friends. Although a great deal of her book is fictious or based loosely on real events, The Alphabet Tour actually takes place each year. 

Her aim has been to write a book which people will not only enjoy, but which inspires them to plan and go on adventures of their own!

She is currently working on her second novel which will follow the characters as they head towards the end of the alphabet.
